Predators at Islanders: By the Numbers
By Jack Cohen and Everything.Isles
Tonight, the New York Islanders are coming off of an awful loss to the Boston Bruins. The Islanders currently have 82 points. They will be playing the tough Nashville Predators. Griess will be starting. Hopefully, the Islanders can shine to beat the Predators. The Bruins do not play tonight so if we win, we will be tied in the wild card. The Predators currently have 38 wins. They are still in a fight for a playoff spot just like us. This game will be a very tough, but a very good game.
By the Numbers:
The Win Scenario
As said before, the Bruins do not play tonight. The Islanders have played one less game the Bruins. Tonight’s game evens out the amount of games. The Islanders will still be behind the Bruins, even though they have equal points. Take a look:
According to nhl.com,
The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs.
The Bruins have 37, and the Islanders have 33. Just one win will not do it for the Islanders. Overall, a win would still be huge tonight.
The Losing Scenario
Look 20 days into the future. Do you see the Islanders playing in the playoffs?
The answer to that question is the same answer to the question “Did the Islanders win tonight”?
The Overtime Losing Scenario
As said, two points won’t take the Wild Card. Obviously, one won’t either.
This game is a must-win.
