“John Tavares, Tavares now, SCORES!!!!!!!!”
I remember it like it was yesterday- yet somehow, it has already been a year.

John Tavares’ dazzling 2OT Goal
Now that you have seen the video, you probably heard the announcer say that the 23 year wait is over.
The Islanders have not made it to the Second Round of the Playoffs in 23 years before that point. Long time.
I have to say, I am very happy John Tavares was the one to score the goal and not someone like Alan Quine or Thomas Hickey. No offense to them- I’m just saying Tavares makes it so much more meaningful.
My Experience with the Goal
No, I did not see it in person. Nor did I see it on a relatively big TV. I saw it on a small TV at a restaurant. I was at the furthest distance possible from the event without registering a passport. I was in California.
The restaurant was fancy- so when JT scored I looked like a lunatic.
At this moment, a 23 year moment was over.
