What a game! That was the first 60-minute game we’ve seen in a while. Chris Gibson played excellent once again. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Gibson has a starting role next season. The question is what to do with Greiss when he comes back from injury. We can’t send Gibson back down, and we absolutely cannot have 3 goalies again.

There is no straight answer to that question. Really, only Doug Weight knows. There are rumors that he did it to spark something, which makes the most sense. Another rumor was to see how the Islanders would play without John Tavares at center (just in case he doesn’t resign).
Hopefully that wasn’t the reason, but as of now, the experiment has sparked nothing as the Islanders lost to the Hurricanes 4-3.
The Islanders, came off a big win against the Pittsburg Penguins. Winning it in a shootout 4-3. Halak comes back with some impressive saves. That gives the Islanders the wild card. They are now tied with the Bruins. The Bruins are going to the Barclays tonight to play the Islanders. This game will be the biggest game of the season with out a doubt. If the Islanders can win, they take possession of the last playoff spot. If the Bruins win, they take possession of the last playoff spot. This game, will be the game. Let’s all hope for the best. The Islanders lost there second game in regulation under Doug Weight on Saturday. Craig Anderson did not play since early December, and was perfect in his return against the Islanders.

Craig Anderson’s wife is suffering from cancer, so we would like to wish the Anderson family best wishes.

The Isles goal scorers include Lee, Boychuk, and Bailey. Lee’s goal was 5 minutes in the an open net from a pass across the crease. Boychuk’s goal was a wrist shot from the point. Bailey’s goal came off of a scramble in front of the net and he banged it in.
In overtime, the Isles didn’t have many chances, but neither did the Red Wings. The scored off of a rebound in front 62 seconds into overtime.
For the first and second period, the Islanders had a steady 3-0 lead. Like most games, in the third period, the Islanders blew their lead and the score was 3-3 for most of the 3rd period. With 26 seconds left, Hickey took a slapper, deflected by Lee and went in. The Pens pulled their goalie and Kulemin scored 3 seconds later. This tied the record for latest pair of goals. The Islanders won 5-3, and are no longer last in the league.
