The Trade Deadline

As of now, the Islanders only made one trade this deadline (Brandon Davidson).  Most likely, Garth Snow will not follow through and make another trade.  But, he needs to!  Garth Snow needs to make some changes for two reasons.  1) John Tavares won’t sign, and 2) If not, he will be fired.

I hope Garth Snow will prove me wrong and acquire any of the following:

  • Oliver Ekman-Larsson (Probably Not)
  • Erik Karlsson (Definitely Not)
  • Robin Lehner (Possibly)

Another Huge Game

Tonight the Islanders are playing the Carolina Hurricanes, and this game is huge.  If the Islanders win, the move up to a 2nd Wild Card Spot!  The Islanders need to make the playoffs if you want John Tavares to sign.  As of now, the goalie is unconfirmed, so we don’t know how this game is going to go.  Basically, if Greiss starts we lose.  If Halak starts we have a chance.  Halak recorded a 50 save shutout last night against the Rangers.  So, will Doug Weight let him rest, or will he realize the importance of this game and start Jaro?  Hopefully, he’ll start Halak and play Barzal.  Barzal also recorded a 3-assist night against the Rangers.  This game lies in the hands of Doug Weight, and the defense.  They’ve been playing pretty badly lately.  Anyway,  this game is very important in the fate of the Islanders and John Tavares.

Bold Predictions

Will the Islanders make the playoffs?

No, they will miss it by 3 points

Will the Islanders take part in a trade?

No, Garth won’t do anything.

Will John Tavares sign?

He will wait until he contract is up, look around the league,  but eventually sign with the Islanders.

Will Barzal win Calder?

Yes, he will beat Brock Boeser.

Will Josh Bailey sign?

What is up with the Vegas Golden Knights?

The Golden Knights are off to a historical start for an expansion team.  Their current record is 8-1-0.  To put that in perspective, the Islanders are 6-4-1.  Now, look at the Coyotes record, which is 0-10-1.

The Golden Knights’ aces are Marc-Andre Fleury (G) and James Neal (F).  Fleury is injured.  Yet, they are still amazing.  Their back-up, Malcolm Subban is also injured!  So, with a 3rd string goalie, and no absolute “superstar” the Vegas Golden Knights are STILL unstoppable.

How do they do it? DETERMINATION!  They want to win more than any other team, for sure.  They want to prove that they are legit.

So, why is this important?  Monday.  Islanders Vs. Knights at Barclays Center.  #LGI

Greiss or Halak?

Greiss recently let up 6 goals against the Minnesota Wild, and 5 against the Blue Jackets.  Not so good.  On the other, Halak has been playing well, with a .913 save percentage and a 2.72 GAA.  Greiss’s GAA is 3.7 and a save percentage of .898.  In my opinion, Halak should be the Islanders starting goalie this season.

Opening Day is Finally Here!

After a depressing season last year, and missing the playoffs by only 1 point, the Islanders are in it to win it. They acquired Jordan Eberle for Ryan Strome and ditched the 3 goalie situation. Berube is now on the Blackhawks. Also, Doug Weight is the permanent head coach of the Isles.

Greiss is predicted to start tonight against the powerful Blue Jackets. A couple years ago the Blue Jackets ranked at the bottom of the league. But last year, the Blue Jackets won 16 staight games- one short of the NHL record.
